Natural Athlete Active BCAAs

Natural Athlete was developed by a Chiropractor and his wife as a supplement brand for athletes. Their product, Active BCAAs, aims to target prevention, performance and recovery. Dosage depends on what you are aiming to target. For example, for prevention, people should take 5 capsules per day, but for recovery, it is 10 capsules per day. This product is antibiotic-free, sugar-free, vegan friendly, hormone-free, gluten-free, lactose-free, non-GMO and GMP certified. People are instructed to take these capsules via mouth or by blending for 30 seconds. While we were pleased to see a 2:1:1 ratio of BCAAs in this formula, the dosage was lower than has been proven to be effective. In addition to the BCAAs, this formula also includes L-glutamine. This may be what helps with muscle recovery, but its inclusion in this product is what contributes to such a low dose of the BCAAs (L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine) being included. We were also disappointed to see that they omitted an ingredient to facilitate absorption, such as black pepper extract. Overall though, we like this manufacturer and feel that they formulated a relatively decent option.

When reviewing this product, we were pleased to see a price tag that suggests quality – not cheap, but definitely affordable. We appreciated the fact they based their formula upon a 2:1:1 ratio of BCAAs. Unfortunately, we felt that they were simply lacking in an effective daily dosage as well as a key ingredient for aiding absorption, such as piperine. Both of these elements are significant to getting great results, as scientific research has shown. Additionally, we were hard-pressed to find many customer reviews for this product. There was a single review on the product site and only five reviews on Amazon. We would have liked to see more reviews in order to get a true sense of the effects of this product. 

We appreciated that the price is relatively affordable, however, we are concerned that one bottle will not last an entire month. There are 150 capsules contained in this bottle but people are instructed to take up to 10 capsules per day. If someone were to take 10 capsules per day, this bottle would only last half a month, turning this into quite a pricey product. It is definitely not cheap but cheap doesn’t always mean quality when it comes to good quality supplements. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. Much depends on the return policy. Again, we were disappointed when we saw the return policy only covers 30 days. Having a longer money-back guarantee would allow consumers a longer time to try this product to see if it works.

Pure Organic Ingredients is a manufacturer that produces many supplements. Having a full range of products, as opposed to only one product, is an indicator of a credible and reputable supplement company. This product is made in the USA in an FDA approved facility and offers a money-back guarantee.  

We liked the fact that this product contains the clinically-proven ratio of 2:1:1 BCAAs for muscle development and recovery. However, we did find their doses to be lacking from what is suggested as effective according to clinical studies. While this manufacturer boasts of a 1200mg of BCAAs daily serving, some products contain double this amount. With only 600mg of L-leucine, the ingredient which is responsible for stimulating muscle protein synthesis, it is unclear how effective this product can be. Additionally, many BCAA supplements will include a natural ingredient to enhance the absorption of these amino acids into muscle tissue. Unfortunately, there is no such ingredient found here.   

The biggest red flag is that this product is not vegan friendly. When sources of BCAA can be formulated from human hair, duck feathers and pigskin, we find that most consumers actively seek out a vegan product or at the very least, steer clear of ingredients that comprise their personal, cultural or religious beliefs.           

Finally, we were pleased to see that there is a 100% money-back guarantee with this product. Although there are no steps listed for how customers who wish to claim a refund can do so, there is a fully-confident claim that it is hassle-free. However, what concerns us is that we were unable to find a single review for Natural Source BCAA. While this may be a good product, we do not have a single customer who has verified this for us.
